How we work.
Most diabetes education happens once — at diagnosis, or in a single class — because that is the time the system allows. The research is clear that without practice and reinforcement afterward, the benefit fades within a few months.
We build the part that comes after. Every program applies the same principles — scaffolded sequencing, active practice, personalization, and ongoing reinforcement — across four surfaces: structured courses, interactive tools, training for the organizations that teach, and small-group programs where people practice in real conditions.
Our programs are built and delivered by people who live with type 1 diabetes, and our education costs the same to give to the ten-thousandth person as to the first. That’s the economics that lets it stay free, and it’s why growing our capacity multiplies reach rather than just raising costs.
Transparency.
Beta Cell Foundation holds a Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency — the highest of four levels, held by a small fraction of U.S. nonprofits. It’s awarded for publishing our governance, leadership, strategy, and program results, all of which are public on our profile.
